In addition, it just happened to be a night that she had an audience. Nana Bonnie, Papa Steve, Cousin Tan & Cousin Nay were all there, to see Bostyn take her first bites of food. LOL :) Nana and Nay both helped out also. After about 8 bites, she was ready for her bottle though. It's all a process...

Nummies....
Well whether we believe it or not, the time has come. Bostyn has made it very clear to us, that she will no longer put up with seeing us eat all these different foods, without her gettin' in on a little of the action herself. She has started to obsessively watch Matt and I (even Ranger) when we eat. She starts to smack her mouth, and suck on her lips and tongue whenever any of us eat. So, we finally agreed that it was time....time for Bostyn to expand her taste buds. Two nights ago was Bostyn's first attempt at having rice cereal. She was very excited to see a spoon with food on it, and even more excited to know it was meant for her, and only her.

A weekend of celebrating...
Yesterday, May 22, was the big 2 YEAR wedding anniversary for Matt and I. We had planned to celebrate on Saturday night, and go stay in a beautiful Suite at Mystic Lake (Thanks to mom and dad). But when I came home from work on Friday, Matt had been hard at work, with his 2 sidekicks (Range and Bostyn), preparing our own little celebration at home. It was such a fun and unexpected surprise.
So, Friday night, was our night to celebrate as a family. Matt put together an amazing meal of brisket, asparagus, twice baked potatoes, and french bread. On the beautifully set table, he had a center piece of flowers, and the most amazing card I have ever received from him. In addition, Matt had put together a wedding slide show AND video for us to watch together. I have to say, he continues to be the most AMAZING husband anyone could ask for. And it was so very fun, to celebrate with Bostyn and Ranger too :)
On Saturday, Nana and Papa excitedly took Bostyn and Ranger for a sleep over, so we were able to have a night by ourselves. We had tons of fun at mystic, despite me losing a $65 ticket :( So, all in all, the weekend was one big ongoing celebration of our anniversary. Who can complain about that? :)

Summer's around the corner
Since the weather has been getting so nice, Bostyn went outside for her first stroll around the neighborhood. She was able to meet some people along the way, who were also eager to meet the new Ackborn :) It took her awhile to get used to the natural sunlight, so for most of the walk, her eyes were squinted:) We made sure to buy her a pair of sunglasses to help her out for the future. She tried them on the other day, to make sure she is also ready to sit poolside at Nana and Papa's this summer.

Happy Mothers Day
Today was my first official Mothers Day :) which was so very fun, in and of itself. Being the mom of my beautiful Bostyn, is more than enough to make me feel beyond special. But then the day had added pieces, that made my day forever memorable. A few men wanted to honor the mothers of their children, and so they did. My husband Matt, my brother Shane, my dad Steve, my grandpa Chuck, my brother-in-law Ryan, my nephew Tanner, along with the men from my sister-in-laws family, made sure that we all had a fabulous Mother's Day.
All the men were up bright and early this morning, preparing for the day. Each had their own designated task that they fulfilled beautifully (despite a few little mishaps along the way= Its ok Matt, we still love you). The women, were scheduled to arrive at Shane & Kels house (thank you Shane and Kel for hosting :), so appreciated), at 10:00am. When we showed up, the men had a gorgeous layout for a "Mothers Day" Brunch. Shane had made the best homemade quiches I have EVER had. The rest of the men made sure to take care of all the other details, which included: fresh doughnuts, caramel rolls and pastries, fresh cut fruit, buttered toast, coffee, fabulous juices including one tasty exotic one :) (LOL), a beautifully set table with fresh cut flower arrangements as center pieces (enough arrangements for each mother to take one home). We so appreciated all the hard work and planning that was put into this day (especially from Shane, who hosted, designated duties, and made our main dish).
Needless to say, my first Mothers Day was great, and it was an awesome start to motherhood. A special thank you to my wonderful husband Matt, my precious daughter Bostyn, and my awesome puppy Ranger. You 3 give me a reason to smile every day, and I could not feel more honored to call you my family.

Welcome Home Nay Nay
Over this past weekend, while celebrating Easter in Faribault, we received the amazing news that our niece Naya was coming back home. For anyone that is close to this story at all, you are well aware that this family is always anticipating when we get to see our sweet Naya again. My brother-in-law Ryan, drove the long haul to Duluth, to pick Naya up and bring her home. We all anxiously awaited for her arrival. Along with the excitement, we also had some worries. We did not know how Naya would deal with so many people waiting to see her (Auntie, Uncle, Cousins, Nana, Papa, and Great grandparents). This had been the longest she had gone without seeing this family, including her Mama Jodi, Ry Ry, and brother Tanner.
As soon as that precious little girl stepped out of the car though, all our concerns melted away. Naya was bursting to see everyone. She first wrapped her arms TIGHTLY around Mama Jodi's neck, repeatedly saying, "I love you Mama Jodi." We were not sure if she was ever going to let go :) but she did. Brother Tanner was right there also, waiting to pick her up and welcome her home. Once Naya had a few minutes to reunite with them, she did not hesitate to welcome all the other hugs and kisses waiting for her.
As I held that sweet niece of mine, telling her how much I loved and missed her, she laid her head on my shoulder, and responded with "I love you too Auntie....I missed you too." She then proceeded to say hello to the rest of the family. After that, she received a much needed bath, so Mama Jodi washed her up and got her dressed. She then came out to greet us all once again, as she danced around and made everyone laugh. Bostyn and Ranger were very excited to see their cousin also. Naya gave Bostyn and Ranger lots of soft kisses, as she kept saying "Hi Baby Bostyn" and "Hi Ranger" :) We quickly realized that this little girl, no matter how long she has to be away, will ALWAYS know who we are and that we are her other home.
So needless to say, it was a great weekend. We hope everyone else had a great Easter too.

A New Friend
This past weekend, we had the honor of meeting the newest addition to the Hendrickson (Selby) family. Heather's cousin Tara, and her husband Luke, welcomed a healthy baby boy, on March 18th to the world. His name is Wyatt and he is the sweetest little thing. Bostyn was very excited to meet her new friend, especially with him being so close in age. Heather was quite sad that as soon as her maternity leave ended, Tara's begun, but it didn't take away from the excitement of meeting little Wyatt.
A few pics were taken as Bostyn and Wyatt were next to each other. Now that Baby Bostyn was lying next to a newborn, everyone realized that she has quickly grown up, and was not as little as she had seemed :(
Grandpa Chuck, being he loves to take pictures, was more than happy and proud, to pose with 2 of his newest Great Grandkids. All in all, it was a great weekend.
