It's a Girl!!!!!!!!!!!!

On Wednesday, September 1, we had our first ultrasound, which was so exciting. Getting to see our little peanut (who is weighing in at 14 oz) was quite the experience. She cooperated very well with Ultrasound tech, and was quite active. She even turned her head toward us to look at us straight on. :)

Auntie Jodi was also with us. And as you can see, we found out that we are having a little girl. Matt has felt a little anxiety about this, due to the fact that she will want to date some day :) Other than that little detail, we are so excited and cannot wait to meet her.

Countdown to Baby Ackborn

This is our neat little ticker, that takes a puzzle piece off every 4 days until our due date. Thought it would be fun to post.

***ITS OFFICIAL***

Well all, we figured it was time to officially bring the news out, that we are expecting.

Heather is almost 11 weeks into her pregnancy, so we are just starting out this journey.

Last Friday 6/25, we were able to hear the heartbeat, which was an experience that cannot be explained through words. Heather has had quite a few obstacles to get through ever since finding out that we are pregnant, which has created some obstacles for Matt also :)!! But the thoughts of having a little Baby Ackborn on the way, has helped us keep it all in perspective. As of right now, our due date is January 18th. We obviously do not know whether it is a girl or boy yet, but stay tuned and before you know it, we will have some more great news :)

We could not be more excited to enter this new part of life.

MORE GOOD NEWS...

As if passing his boards was not enough....
Today, Matt was just offered a job in Minnetonka, at the Hennepin County Home School (Take note, that this offer is from the one and only interview he has been to so far) He has accepted the position, and will be a Juvenile Corrections Officer.

He will be working with juveniles (ages 12 -20), who have been court ordered to this residential treatment program. They have 2 separate treatment programs for males and females, a program for juvenile sex offenders and a Transitional Living Program. He will be starting on April 12, so things are definitely moving in the right direction... Stay tuned :)

CONGRATS AGAIN MATT!!!!

**Matt has added a few letters to his name now**

We are very aware of the fact, that we have not done so well at keeping this blog up to date, which is very unfortunate:( We hope to change that now, and start updating everyone again.

I figured their is no better time than now, to get our blog up and running again. I am very excited to inform everyone (or at least everyone that has not heard from Matt yet :) ), that as of approximately 1 PM today, Matt passed his boards exam, and has officially been licensed as a Social Worker. He graduated this last December with his Bachelors in Social Work, and since then, has been focusing on taking his boards in order to be licensed, which became his reality today. We are both excited to have that be over and done with, expecially Matt himself. When I asked him how it felt, he said, "Im so excited, I dont even know North from South right now." LOL. I remember all too well that feeling.

Now with having his license, it opens doors to many opportunities within the field. It will be exciting to see where this takes him next, and where he will officially begin his career.

But for today, I just wanted to acknowledge this huge accomplishment. He deserves a lot of recognition.... Not everyone passes their boards the first time through. Some have to go through the testing multiple times, so CONGRATULATIONS MATTHEW!!!!!!!! To be more specific....

CONGRATULATIONS
MATTHEW A. ACKBORN, LSW
